Exalted Rulers Message

 MEMBERS:
This is my final message to you. It is hard to believe that a year has passed so fast. This year has been a very rewarding experience for me. To all of the members who helped out in many of the different events that occurred I am very grateful. The year would not have run so smoothly had it not been for your willingness to come down to the lodge and volunteer.
The officers this year are a very dedicated group of men. Their participation in the lodge meetings and dedication to ritual examplifies the leadership character that they each possess. I am confident that they will be great Exhalted Rulers when their time comes.
The past few months different people have asked me if I was tired of the job and my answer has always been the same, "I'm tired, but I am not tired of the job". When I started last March I didn't realize how involved and attached I would become to our lodge. This is a great organization and I am thankful for having the opportunity to serve as your Exalted Ruler.
I would like to thank every one who has helped out this year by name but I am afraid that I would leave someone out. Instead, I will acknowledge the different groups that volunteered. The Trustees and the House Committee, you gentlemen, made this year very successful. Also, thanks go to the guys who work in the kitchen on the evenings when we have initiation of new members. Mike told me that I would never have to call him, and I didn't. The end of the month steak feed crews, what a great job you do. This is a wonderful evening for members to enjoy good food and good times. Dave and the Father Daughter crew and Kevin and the Father Son crew, you organized two fabulous events. Who will you be having this year? The Flag Day Ceremony last June was fantastic. Don and your crew, your efforts express the Elks devotion to Americanism. The second Annual Raffle last fall was another success, that requires a lot of leg work. Thanks to all the volunteers. Bruce, Mark, Dan and all of your assistants, what a fantastic job you did organizing the youth activities. These events went off with out a hitch and is a great opportunity to involve the young people of our community. These sporting events truly show how Elks Care and Elks Share. To all the employed personnel, thank you for your dedication to our lodge. Your commitment makes this operation run smoothly.Danny, I'm sure you will appreciate the new furniture as much as anyone.
I am sure many of you enjoyed the great evening on February 9 th . Kevin Kent was very instumental in arranging the entertainment. It was fun to see so many members having dinner and listening to all the great sounds that Gwen and her dad provided.
Last but not least, I have to thank my wife Melinda for all the support and compassion she has given me this year. She has been very instrumental with suggestions and extremely understanding of all the hours that I have been away at Elk functions. I am looking forward to spending a lot of time with her in the months to come.

Fraternally,
ER John
